Aluminium square fuel tank above grey cast iron cylinders with ridged or ribbed design which would meet the waterline and was designed for cooling as with motorbike design. The Indian brand is visible at the centre. The engine is above an aluminium crank case and cast aluminium exhaust collector and lower leg.

My research has shown that your Indian outboard motor is a 10HP outboard and not an 8HP as you have posted here. Production of the rare breed began approximately in February 1930 and was discontinued in August 1930. There were 600 early versions built with cast aluminum gas tanks with a nameplate on the back and two support brackets on the front. These are now known to be 1930 Indian Silver Arrow "Series 601" outboards. The later 900 motors were built with a lighter pressed aluminum gas tank with a decal across the back. The support brackets were eliminated and two standoffs were cast into the back of the muffler to protect the new gas tank. These are now known to be 1930 Indian Silver Arrow "Series 602" outboards.
