Object detail

Token was found in the Britomart construction site on Quay Street, Auckland in 2002. It is made of a base metal and very soft. It was a membership token issued by the Shipwrecked Mariner's Society in return for an annual subscription. It is believed the number '1874' indicates the year of minting. There are numbers scratched onto the surface and these could indicate a membership number. Britomart number reference for the item is: FG14B
