Description
The diary records Clarence Potts voyage on SS CORNWALL (1896) from England to New Zealand. The vessel departed from Liverpool, 21 September 1907 under the command of Captain Howell. Mr Potts left CORNWALL in Wellington on 2nd December 1907 and transferred onto the Union Steam Ship Company vessel MARAROA and travelled to Lyttelton, arriving on 3rd December 1907. From Lyttelton he travelled overland by train to Timaru, arriving on 4th December 1907. The diary describes life on board the ship, meals, the weather, the ports of call; Los Palmas, Cape Town, Sydney, Auckland, Wellington; a crossing the line ceremony, includes hand-drawn maps showing route.
