Description

East side of Kings Wharf during a gale annotated in album as taking place 30 April 1928. Scow 'Maggie' is identified as being in the photograph but is hard to make her out in the hazy scene. A number of low buildings and chimneys are visible across the choppy water including a Shingle, Sand & Coal Depot, possibly that of J.J. Craig Ltd.

Foss Tackaberry was an engineer with the Auckland Harbour Board. He became the foreman of works on the waterfront. He retired mid 1960s but was re-hired to oversee the floating of the dredge HAPAI.
