Description

An original black and white photograph of Te Aro and central Wellington City from Mt Victoria, showing St Gerard's Monastery and ships WAITEMATA and WESTRALIA. The photograph is taken from the top of a hill. At the foot of the hill is flat residential land curving around an inner harbour area. Only the very distant hills and an area on the right are bare. There are three different wharves visible (Clyde Quay Wharf, Taranaki Street Wharf and Queen's Wharf) each with a large ship berthed alongside. On the reverse are the words "WAITEMATA - WESTRALIA, Dec 1958".
