Black Bakelite earphones attached to metal arms and clamps. These, in turn, are attached to flexible metal bands which are leather bound and wrap around the operator's head when worn. A brown fabric braided cord extends from one earpiece and ends in a plug.
The plastic rectangle shaped adjuster situated on the metal head band has REYNOLDS scratched on to the its surface. and the reverse has the address 34 Ormond Rd, Whangarei scratched onto it. One earpiece has the numbers 4049J imprinted in white on its surface. Manufacturer unknown.
Given to Phillippa (Pip)Were by fellow radio operators with Auckland Maritime Radio based at Musick Point and used for seventeen years by her during her career as a radio inspector and ships radio officer.
