Description
Shell of a red-billed gull egg which has been blown and has a small hole on one side. Brownish-grey coloured shell with dark brown mottling. Pencil inscription on egg: Gull / M. Gull / F Spit / 11-04
The red billed gull was formerly known as the mackerel gull, hence 'M Gull' in inscription. Part of a collection of predominantly Pacific region sea shells and New Zealand seabird eggs collected by Frances Shakespear.
