Description
Song sheet, cream card 'Possum' manuscript papers No 4, pre printed score sheet of four sides, with handwritten words and musical notes in black ink which has been illustrated by collage with colour pictures of ships. 9 June 1941.

The song lyrics are written on score and comprise eight verses, the first first as follows:

In old "N. Z" there lived a Tar, Mark well what I do say. In old "N. Z" there lived a Tar who's sailed the o - oceans near and far. But he'll go no more a rov - ing with you fair maid. A rov - ing A rov - ing, since rov - ing's been his ru - in, He'll go no more a - roving with you fair maid.

The song 'A-Roving' was composed for Captain A.H. Davey on the occasion of his retirement by the Master Mariner's Club, Wellington, NZ. (words) with music harmonised by 'R.H. Whall, Mus. Bac F.R.C.O. Etc'.
