Description
Ceramic cheese jar with lid. Cream coloured glaze with words 'STILTON / C & E MORTON, / LONDON' in black lettering. Brown upper glaze with fine beaded detailing below rim. Large chip out of rim. Stamped on lower rear: GRAY / A / PORTOBELLO / A.B. in an oval ring.
One of a collection of domestic items salvaged in the 1970s from the SS MAORI which ship wrecked in 1909 off the coast of Cape Town, South Africa.
