Colour photograph of crossing the line ceremony, showing passengers dressed in costume on ship deck, passenger in costume being lifted out and Capt Charlie Earl "going in" the pool, deck area is decorated and a crowd of passengers are watching the ceremony which takes place when a ship or vessel crosses the equator. Back of the photograph is dated 30 May 1970.

Taken by Phillippa (Pip) Were when she was a passenger cruise ship SS NORTHERN STAR (1961) crossing the equator for the first time.
