Colour photograph of a crossing of the line ceremony, ' caption handwritten on verso "once drowned". Showing Captain Earl and passenger wet beside pool, crowd of passengers watching ceremony which takes place when a ship or vessel and commemorates a passenger's first crossing of the Equator.

Taken when Phillippa (Pip) Were was travelling on cruise ship SS NORTHERN STAR (1961), 30 May 1970.
