Black and white photographic postcard of ANTIOPE (1866) three-masted iron ship1443 tons, moored at wharf, top left corner has a cameo photographic portrait of an unidentified, uniformed sailor.
The ship was registered and in operation in New Zealand in 1915 for the Praia Coal Company and the Otago Iron Rolling Mills Company Ltd, Dunedin - reg. Wellington NZ. While in Bluff a tug lost control of the ship and she ended up on the rocks for 96 days before being salvaged and repaired.
