Description
Campaign medal awarded to George Davis. Part of a mounted set of full-sized medals belonging to Davis from both World War I and World War II. Mounted fifth from the left.
The British War Medal 1939-45 was awarded to all full-time members of armed forces for 28 days service between September 1939 - September 1945. Obverse: crowned head of King George VI, surrounded by the legend ‘GEORGIUS VI D: G: BR: OM: REX ET INDIAE: IMP:’ Reverse: A lion standing on a dragon with two heads, above are the dates 1939 and 1945. Ribbon: grosgrain, 32mm wide, red, blue, and white bands, repeated in reverse order and separated by red. The colours are those of the British Union Jack.
