Description
Engraving of an original oil painting, The Pilots, 1887 by Gari Melchers. It depicts a group of men seated around a table in an upper chamber of an inn, view of tiled roofs and the sea beyond. They are talking and smoking, and one is working on a model of a ship.

Credit line for the printer, "Photogravure by Goupil & Co", runs underneath the image.
