Description
Acrylic painting on board, Auckland wharves by Ralph Sewell.

The scene is a retrospective view, depicting a wharf and city scene in Auckland in the 19th century. There are three sailing vessels and dinghies moored in the painted scene. The vessels include BREEZE (1981), second on right, which was designed and built by Ralph Sewell. The tug SS PUKE (1872-1900) can be seen under steam in the lower left foreground.

BREEZE and SS PUKE are operating vessels currently at the New Zealand Maritime Museum Hui Te Ananui a Tangaroa.
