Description
Rectangular bronze plaque that marked the spot of the valve that was part of the first bulk petroleum installation at Auckland Harbour by B.P Oil New Zealand in 1949. Plaque reads "This valve was part of the first bulk petroleum installation established at Auckland Harbour by B.P. Oil New Zealand Limited in 1949. / It was originally part of a similar installation established by the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company (now the British Petroleum Company) in Iran during the 1930's. It was placed here at the time of the closing of the installation in December 1985 to commemorate the long association between B.P. Oil New Zealand Limited and the Auckland Harbour Board."
