Description
Shell of a Royal albatross egg which has been blown. A very large egg shell. Pale cream coloured elongated ovoid shell with some staining. Southern royal albatross, Diomedea epomophora.
Part of a collection of predominantly Pacific region sea shells and New Zealand seabird eggs collected by Frances Shakespear. Possibly collected from Campbell Island or the Auckland Islands by a crew member on a voyage of GSS HINEMOA, the government vessel which supplied lighthouses and castaway depots.
