Description
Model of a single hull vaka from the Solomon Islands. The dark wooden hull is carved from a single piece of dark wood and is decorated throughout with inlaid geometrical designs filled with mother of pearl shell.

The hull contains a large fish (possibly a tuna) that fills almost the full length. There are animalistic figures carved on prow and stern.
