Description
Uniform belonging to George Henry Davis. The jacket has medal ribbons: The British War Medal (World War I), Victory Medal (World War I), 1939-1945 Star, Pacific Star, War Medal 1939-45, New Zealand War Service Medal, Coronation Medal 1953. George Henry Davis was born in Greymouth, New Zealand, 11 October 1897. He was employed as a marine engineer and during his career worked for Union Steam Ship Company, at one point serving in MV KAITAWA. During World War I he served as a soldier in the New Zealand Machine Gun Corps, Wellington Company. George Davis also served in World War II in the Merchant Navy and was awarded the 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star and War Medal for his service.
